Dior hosts a cinematic sojourn to the glamorous Côte d’Azur.
With the glitterati descending upon the South of France for the annual Cannes Film Festival, there was no better time or place for Dior to fete Creative Director Raf Simons’ Cruise 2016 collection. What was initially conceived as a Californian affair turned into a French Riviera escape to Pierre Cardin’s iconic Bubble Palace, with a high-wattage guest list in attendance including Marion Cotillard and Dakota Fanning.
Dior imagined the ultimate itinerary for the out-of-towners, who made themselves at home at the historic art deco Hotel Majestic Barrière and at the swank Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in nearby Antibes. As Cannes regulars will attest, no trip is complete without the ceremonial bouillabaisse presentation at Tetou, where Dior threw a decadent dinner party, complete with whimsical accents in the form of crustacean-themed creations by a local paper artist.
Along with leisurely walks on La Croisette, flanked by the white-sand beach on one side and haute couture boutiques on the other, guests had the option of visiting the medieval-walled village of Saint-Paul-de-Vence for an afternoon of pétanque and lunch at the sculpture-filled modern art museum Fondation Maeght.
The highlights of this invite-only getaway: a runway procession of Dior’s youthful ’70s-inspired Cruise 2016 ensembles and a Zoë Kravitz-deejayed after-party at David Lynch’s pop-up nightclub, Silencio. Fortunately, come winter, all can shop the soigné spoils firsthand. dior.com
