A girls’ trip to this Caribbean spa offers a rare moment of repose.
Grab your girlfriends and head to Grand Cayman Island, or, as the locals say, “Cay-mon,” for a much-needed bachelorette weekend. Located just over an hour from Miami, it draws jet-setters, who come for its Caribbean splendor and stay for The Ritz-Carlton’s Silver Rain spa.
Discreetly set behind a heavy, soundproof silver door, the La Prairie escape is a cool glacial palace where pampering is the priority and comfort is key. Attendants guide you past modern waterfalls into a cocoon-like waiting area to relax pre- and post-treatment. With plates of fresh fruits, carafes of juice, bottles of Champagne and professionals who swaddle you with blankets and hot neck cushions, it’s all about attention to detail. While treatment options vary, with names like Diamond Perfection (a head-to-toe polishing scrub) and Gifts from the Sea (which uses marine plants to indulge you from top-to-toe), a favorite is the new Skin Caviar Lifting Facial, which uses micro-current technology to lift, contour and tone. It’s 90 minutes of pure luxury and begins with a back massage.
Of course, you’ll also want to take advantage of all that beautiful blue water at your doorstep. Take a day trip to the famous “Stingray City” and mingle with wild animals in the open ocean. Prepare a picnic lunch and sail to Starfish Point, where the shore is dotted with palm trees and covered with starfish. Water activities are also an option; snorkeling and scuba diving are world famous, and the hotel will easily arrange excursions. But if you and your bridal party feel like doing absolutely nothing, simply request a beachfront cabana, order a cocktail and sink your toes into the milky-white sand.
A few days later, as you board the plane to return home, relaxed and blissfully happy, those pesky planning thoughts may not even faze you. In fact, chances are you’ll be thinking you’ve just found the perfect honeymoon locale. ritzcarlton.com.
