For François Nars, Holiday 2013 is all about celebrating the late French fashion photographer Guy Bourdin.
After all, Nars connects the photographer’s unconventional narratives, overt sexuality and rule-breaking nature not only to his career choice as a makeup artist but also to his roles as founder and creative director of Nars. “Bourdin’s influence is everywhere in my life; it’s in the DNA of Nars. I’ve long incorporated his work into our collections—in names, colors, even inspiration for the campaign images,” says Nars. From bold, high-impact cinematic eye shadow in loud colors with names like Rage and Bad Behaviour, to a complete face palette called Crime of Passion, the collection pays homage to Bourdin’s part art, part fantasy legacy. narscosmetics.com
