Gwyneth Paltrow’s childhood ramblings led her to the Brentwood Country Mart’s candy store,
and now the Goop founder has retraced her steps to open her own boutique in this neighborhood haunt. The ever-curious actor, whose pioneering health adventures sparked a website that has become a lifestyle brand, is stocking the shelves of her Goop Lab with an edited selection of apothecary lines, fashion finds, furniture, wellness elixirs and even a limited-edition shoe collaboration with longtime friend Christian Louboutin. The airy 1,300-square-foot space dreamed up by design team Roman and Williams—the minds behind Ace Hotel New York and Paltrow’s personal residences—resembles a Westside bungalow, complete with a gathering spot for cooking classes and demos held around a cream-colored Lacanche range. “We started with the communal aspects,” says Paltrow. Roman and Williams co-founder Robin Standefer says the shop’s greenhouse, kitchen, apothecary and living room foster “respite and conversation.” Paltrow adds, “The beauty of the Country Mart is that even though some of the stores have changed, the small-town feel and sense of community is the same.” 225 26th St., Ste. 37, S.M., 310-260-4702; goop.com.
