Monelle Totah and Gary McNatton opened the stylishly appointed Hudson Grace on Sacramentro Street in 2012 with one thing in mind: entertaining.
The award-winning tabletop and fragrance design vets (Williams-Sonoma, Banana Republic, Restoration Hardware, Dyptique) stock a fresh, modern mix: white serving platters and planks for cheese, party-friendly glassware, hotel silver and adorably chic R. Nichols candles, proprietary HG olive oil, and linens in dozens of hues. Late last year, the duo expanded to the Marin Country Mart (a branch in Montecito opens March 1). Here, a couple of planning tips from the pros: • A welcome table filled with big bowls of abundant seasonal fruit or unique branches sets the mood. • When arranging the menu, ask your guests if they have food allergies. • Signature cocktails add a touch of sophistication and cool. (McNatton is drinking sidecars these days; Totah loves a martini.) • Dim the lights! Use candles for the perfect look: unscented where food is served; scented throughout other rooms. R. Nichols candles can leave a wonderful memory of the evening. Don’t forget hurricanes outside for a beautiful glow. Marin Country Mart; Montecito Country Mart; hudsongracesf.com.
