Ask any sommelier about the best bottle he or she has ever had, and the answer is usually the same:
It isn’t the wine that stands out but the moments surrounding it. Such is the ethos behind Clos19, the LVMH-backed wine and spirits e-commerce site (that has finally launched stateside) with a focus on “the art of hosting.”
The brainchild of Stephanie Watine Arnault, niece of LVMH chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault, Clos19 does much more than ship bottles of Krug Vintage 2004 bubbly and Château Cheval Blanc 2012. It also serves as a curated luxury travel hub that offers once-in-a-lifetime experiences celebrating the heritage of the sip (think Antartica by private plane, sailing in New Zealand’s Cloudy Bay—all with paired LVMH-brand libations, of course).
The encyclopedic editorial content includes detailed drink dossiers for perfect party hosting, what-to-drink suggestions for everyone from your father to your soul mate and answers to your most burning beverage questions, all of which complement a marketing campaign helmed by Oscar-nominated 20th-Century Women screenwriter and director Mike Mills. “[Wine and spirits] are not just products to buy and consume, but about an experience,” Watine Arnault says. We’ll drink to that. clos19.com.
