Hensely’s designer offers a study in classics for spring
As the founder of luxe ready-to-wear label Hensely, Neha Kapur Nayyar designs for a woman who sounds a lot like the glamorous New Delhi-born talent herself: “She’s curious about life,” says Kapur Nayyar, who arrived in L.A. after studying fashion design, modeling for Elite, representing India in the Miss Universe pageant and marrying actor Kunal Nayyar in 2011. “She has an easy, elegant, laid-back style.” The brand’s spring collection channels Studio 54, Bianca Jagger and the desert’s muted colorscape in floor-skimming gowns, a minidress with flared sleeves and three-piece suits anchored by wide-leg pants. Following the introduction of sleek brass pins and cuff links, Kapur Nayyar is next plotting art deco-style jewelry; her adopted hometown is proving to be its own creative catalyst: “There’s something about [L.A.]—just the energy,” she says. “It’s a good time to be here.” modaoperandi.com; hensely.com.
