Noir designer Kei Ninomiya rethinks Moncler
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MONCLER
Determined to push creative boundaries in an age of innovation, Moncler is fortifying its reign as the authority on luxury down jackets and sportswear with its latest project: Moncler Genius. Introduced earlier this year and helmed by Remo Ruffini, chairman and CEO of the beloved Italian label, the multifaceted initiative aims to showcase diverse perspectives through eight covetable collections imagined by some of today’s leading designers, among them Simone Rocha and Craig Green. Each line expresses the unique point of view of the respective creator while still representing the time-honored Moncler ethos and the brand’s Alpine roots.
Moncler tapped designer Kei Ninomiya—the Paris-based Comme des Garçons alum, who recently launched his eponymous Noir Kei Ninomiya label—to create the latest Moncler Genius range. Launched July 25, the sixth collection of the series features Ninomiya’s signature all-black, femme-punk aesthetic, with such pieces as round skirts and cropped jackets crafted in shiny leather or nylon, with floral appliqués. Also in the line, of course: Ninomiya’s own voluminous take on the Moncler jacket, which he developed using new down techniques that incorporate nylon tubing. The fresh vision brings a dark romanticism to Moncler’s identity, yet still honors the 66-year-old company’s rich heritage.
The Moncler Noir Kei Ninomiya collection is now available online and in stores, including Moncler South Coast Plaza. 3333 Bristol St., Ste. 2630, Costa Mesa, 714-559-7331; moncler.com.
