Hand-painted sweaters from the GP Blue collection.
This past fall, designer Gregory Parkinson decided to make a detour while vacationing in India to visit the knitting mill in central Nepal he had employed for the first two collections of his cashmere line, GP Blue. After working directly with the region’s craftsmen for seven days-—hand-painting wool from Mongolian goats—Parkinson returned to his L.A. studio to design the line’s newest collection. He also plans to return to the region in March to work on new concepts.
“I’m able to come into contact with people one never would when traveling as a tourist. That is a big part of the inspiration.” From $245; Barneys New York; gregoryparkinson.com.
