Rebecca de Ravenel’s new Jewelry line celebrates the young Hancock Park designer’s fanciful joie de vivre.
In search of perfect lightweight day-to-night statement earrings, Rebecca de Ravenel started making pieces herself. “One night, I walked into a restaurant in Beverly Hills after going to a party with a friend and a gentleman having dinner with his wife stood up and said, ‘Oh my goodness, I love your earrings. They look like sweets. What are they called?’” Off the top of her head, de Ravenel, in her French accent quipped: “Les Bonbons.”
Et voilà! De Ravenel now produces the whimsical, silk-wrapped baubles out of India and New York City in a rainbow of colors. Playful yet sophisticated, the earrings reflect de Ravenel’s sought-after taste. The stylist and interior designer, who has worked with Mark D. Sikes, grew up between the Bahamas and Paris (where her parents were antiques dealers) before relocating to Hancock Park last fall. “My fingers are crossed that this is the beginning of lots more to come.” rebeccaderavenel.com.
