The brand’s new active-inspired retail concept lands at Maxfield
Pierpaolo Piccioli’s designs for Valentino’s Resort 2018 collection, a powerful fusion of sport-meets-street, are going on a world tour of sorts, with the brand’s new VLTN retail concept, a series of active-inspired pop-up shops opening on October 26 in New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Milan, and Maxfield in Los Angeles. Valentino’s “active spaces” will feature reinforced concrete, basketball nets and other constructs that might further articulate Piccioli’s Resort 2018 range for Valentino, brimming with reinvented varsity jackets, silk track pants and furry flip-flops — all a boundary-breaking departure from the House’s signature eveningwear. Also on offer: A slew of novelty items not seen on the resort runway including basketballs, yoga mats, sneakers and more. Valentino will fete its daywear assortment and VLTN’s sporty new spots with a series of parties, kicking off at the brand’s SoHo flagship in Manhattan on Oct. 25, followed by Maxfield in L.A. on Oct. 26 and The Webster in Miami on Oct. 27. Maxfield, 8825 Melrose Ave., W.H.; maxfieldla.com.
