Daniel Lee is redefining the design parameters of Burberry’s wardrobe archetypes with silhouettes cut closer to the body and hourglass waists in his second offering helming the British house. His Spring 2024 looks are grounded in key pieces for a life lived outdoors, including trench, car, and duffle coats alongside blanket capes, parkas, and field jackets, not to mention bomber and aviator jackets.

The clothes have an elegant lightness and are rife with versatile zips referencing a 1920s archival Burberry ski suit and vintage flying suits. Naturally, sporty Pilot aviator-style sunglasses join the mix. Buttons and functional additions for those on-the-move include hoods attached to silk chiffon dresses, made-in-Scotland cashmere scarves with elegant fringe, and denim with flocked rose-print cuffs.

Lee’s dandelion-print silk pajamas have Knight blue piping, and the collection’s palette includes new interpretations of the signature blue hue along with sherbet, ivy, rhubarb, and cameo colors, plus plenty of khaki, black, and white. Swan and duck prints cheekily allude to water resistance, a key house innovation. Prince of Wales check, warped houndstooth, and argyle intarsia knits join the other exuberant prints splashed across cricket sweaters, sweater dresses, and asymmetric frocks.

The house’s Equestrian Knight Design makes an appearance on leather puffer coats, woven into the backs of garments or inside hems, and the venerable shape’s outline is even punched into Rubber Highland mules — the entire image is visible when feet are side by side. Knight bags with bridled horse clips have new dimensions for the season and Shield totes have EKD-embossed details. Also joining the carryall lineup are leather Muff bags and Peg iterations knitted in the house check pattern. From hoods and hats to tights, shoes, and purses, prints are all-encompassing. 301 N.
