On Tuesday, Jan. 28, ambassador Nicole Avant, actor Elizabeth Chambers, designer Zoë de Givenchy, philanthropists Irena Medavoy and Jennifer Flavin Stallone hosted an intimate women’s luncheon and VIP tour of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, expected to throw open its doors by the end of 2020.
Nearly 70 women spanning the fields of film, fashion and philanthropy gathered at the institution’s newly constructed home, which was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano and stands at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue. Among those who turned out for the occasion, made possible with support by JP Morgan Chase & Co., were philanthropist Kimberly Beck Clark, producer Lauren Shuler Donner, physician Melina Esrailian, writer Tania Fares and actor Marley Shelton Flynn.
In addition to celebrating the museum’s forthcoming unveiling, the guests toasted the fact that just the day before, Bill Kramer, Academy Museum director, announced that the organization has raised more than $368 million in pledges and cash — 95 percent of its $388 million pre-opening campaign goal.
The guest list also included producer Iremelin Indenbirken, philanthropist Ghada Irani, designer Monique Lhuillier, model Maye Musk and producer Cecilia Peck.
