Party On: Louis Vuitton Brings Objets Nomades to Frieze L.A.

Friends of the fashion house turned out to toast an exhibition featuring the art-forward collection

On Thursday, Feb. 13, while Frieze mounted its second annual installment in Los Angeles, Louis Vuitton celebrated its first partnership with the art fair, with an off-site exhibition of its Objets Nomades collection — a collaborative range of artfully crafted, travel-inspired pieces that has lured the talents of some of the world’s most innovative design voices.

To fete the space, installed at Milk Los Angeles, guests including model Salem Mitchell, fashion influencer Chrisa Pappas and interior designer Robert Stilin stopped by for cocktails and to admire a greatest-hits of the collection: from the Bulbo Chair, a fantastical layered riff on a tropical flower from the Campana Brothers, to the newest addition to the range: the oak and leather Swell Wave shelf by California-based designer Andrew Kudless (Objets Nomades’ first American designer).

It wasn’t all champagne and voyage-inspired eye candy — design philosophizing also flourished within the white walls: Architectural Digest’s Mayer Rus moderated a conversation with Humberto Campana on the opening evening, and Kudless spoke with design historian Emily King the following day.
