A charming garden dinner at the Chateau Marmont in celebration of the new Gabrielle Chanel Essence perfume

On Thursday, Sept. 12, at the storied Chateau Marmont in the hills of West Hollywood, Chanel and Margot Robbie together welcomed VIPs to an evening of celebration in honor of the fashion house’s fresh take on its beloved Gabrielle fragrance.
The new edition, Gabrielle Chanel Essence ($105/1.7 oz.) — featuring heightened floral notes of jasmine, orange blossom, Grasse tuberose and ylang-ylang — was revivified by in-house perfumer Olivier Polge, and launched earlier in September with an enchanting Nick Knight-directed campaign starring Robbie.
Marking the launch and the actor’s new role as the face of Chanel fragrance, the event kicked off with cocktails by the pool as guests began to arrive, many of them clad in Chanel, including Camila Morrone, Kenya Kinski-Jones, and sisters Harley and Rio Viera-Newton.
The crowd then settled for an intimate family-style meal of steak frites and roasted chicken set to a live soundtrack by DJ Zuri Marley; electro-pop trio Shaed also later performed. As Kristine Froseth, Langley Fox, Este and Danielle Haim, Maude Apatow, Joe Keery, Charlie Heaton, Jimmy Chin and other attendees enjoyed the candlelit alfresco dinner, Robbie took a moment to toast Chanel and its legendary founder and namesake, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel.
