Guests toasted the florist to the stars and the relaunch of his fragrance line

On Thursday, Feb. 20, at Los Angeles luxury concept store Just One Eye, florist and perfumer Eric Buterbaugh celebrated his eponymous fragrance collection, the relaunch of which conveniently coincided with the bon vivant’s birthday, making the evening an extra special celebration that drew the likes of Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood costume designer Arianne Phillips and actor and House of Harlow 1960 designer Nicole Richie.
What do florals and fragrances have in common with disco? To the average person, not much … but Buterbaugh is anything but average. The space was converted into a discotheque, featuring plenty of elegant bouquets and his range of 17 unique scents on display, juxtaposed with pink streamers, a large-scale flamingo made of roses and a dance floor complete with disco balls.
If Buterbaugh is known for nothing else, let it be his love for his friends. And they love him too, having turned out in full force and ready to party on a Thursday night. Rachel Zoe dressed in theme, wearing a gold metallic dress and a floor-length fur coat while her husband, Rodger Berman, opted for a retro flared pant and wide-lapel coat. Rob Lowe, Nicky Hilton Rothschild and Courteney Cox mingled among friends. Gia Coppola and Sara Foster posed with flamingo pool floats and a lush but cheeky flora and fauna backdrop (the same print appears on Buterbaugh’s new packaging). Studio C designers Nick Fouquet, Daniela Villegas, Kendall Conrad, Ambre Dahan and Lisa Eisner were also there to toast a fellow California maker.
And like all good parties, this one too included a performance by dancers clad in underwear and not much else. After all, this is an Eric Buterbaugh soiree — where disco, strippers and seriously sophisticated scents can all live harmoniously under one roof.
