The United States Polo Association hosted the Pacific Coast Open in partnership with LALO Tequila bringing together athletes, fans of the equestrian sport, and tastemakers at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club on Sunday, August 17, and Sunday, August 24. As players took to the field, Santa Barbara’s mascot horse, Pistol Pete, arrived and Nacho Figueras, Jesse Metcalfe, Helene Immel, Kevin Nimmons, Rhys Williams, Will Busch Jr., Christina Tebbe, Patrick Uretz, Kevin Mokarow, Henry Walker, Nina Takesh, Justin Klentner, and Amanda Masters gathered in the LALO Polo Lounge. LALO cofounder David R. Carballido welcomed them all and presented trophies and tequila to winners.
Guests sipped a variety of cocktails created for the two weekends, including Palomas, spritzes, margaritas, and sodas all made with LALO and paired with a fieldside raw bar stocked with oysters as well as lobster rolls, sliders, and roe caviar from Clark’s Oyster Bar in Montecito. After pro players — including Nachi Viana, Peke Gonzalez, Robert Zedda, Geronimo Obregon, Jesse Bray, and Facundo Obregon — took the field, halftime divot stompers carried parasols provided by LALO as they helped repair the turf and ready it for the ongoing matches.
