Michael Kors boutique returns To Rodeo Drive

Michael Kors, always with a finger on fashion’s pulse, is launching a new streamlined store concept for his ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, and accessories in Beverly Hills. The two-level 1,500-square-foot shop has a spare, modern look and neutral sun-bathed palette created with a myriad of materials including antique brass, blackened steel, raw concrete, oxidized maple, and also gold Calacatta marble and an immersive video wall. The opening marks the return of Michael Kors Collection designs to Beverly Hills, following a four-year hiatus from Rodeo Drive. The space’s residential feel is meant to foreground the craftsmanship and intricacy of his runway looks, gowns, and special pieces. The clean lines of his Spring/Summer 2024 collection, with its themes of escape and the joy of travel interpreted in white or gold lace dresses, tan caftans, sweaters in sorbet shades, and black empire-waist dresses — initially shown on a bougainvillea-lined runway — stand out inside the new boutique. And just as the vine’s magenta and red flowers are a California mainstay, so are Kors’ diaphanous silhouettes.

Kors, who launched his namesake line at age 21, and also for a time designed for Celine, lived with his family in Beverly Hills in the 1970s and has fond memories of its most famous street as an epicenter of glamour. Throughout his career he’s created looks for actresses both onscreen and off, dressing Nicole Kidman, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow, Viola Davis, Emily Blunt, Kate Hudson, and many more as well as former first lady Michelle Obama, former secretary of state Hillary Clinton and Vice President Kamala Harris. Now, with the newly opened boutique, his elegant yet sporty staples are back, beckoning multiple generations of women. 242 N. Rodeo Dr., Beverly Hills, 424-245-4448; michaelkors.com.
