Ornamental Endeavors: The Jewelry to Gift Yourself This Month

Power gemstones, a collection inspired by the desert night sky, and delicate anklets designed with Tamara Mellon — we want it all, and so will you

Sunset Sparklers
Those who pursue a quintessential West Coast aesthetic will find it hard to resist the latest offerings from L.A.-based Becky Hosmer’s socially conscious jewelry line, Anna Beck. The Dreamy Dusk collection (from $140) features twilight-colored stones that, when worn in combination, evoke the most quixotic moments of a desert sunset. Think drop earrings, cushion pendant necklaces, elegant rings and more boasting stones of pink and gray quartz with gold plating over sterling silver. Made in Bali using traditional techniques, each Anna Beck piece is unique, with many incorporating the line’s signature “beaded” patterns. Showroom by appointment only. 8075 W. Third St., Ste. 403, L.A., showroom@annabeck.com.

What a Gem
Laguna Beach-based designer Gorjana Reidel has just opened her eponymous line’s latest brick-and-mortar — the brand’s 11th — at Malibu Country Mart, making shopping the newest styles even more convenient for the label’s loyal followers. The 500-square-foot space features on-site engraving for items from Gorjana’s bespoke collection and is outfitted with bohemian shibori fabrics, including a beautiful custom hand-dyed tapestry by artist Lauren Williams, and a wall of “power gemstones,” where guests can learn the special characteristics of each one. The range’s versatile necklaces are perfect for layering, while the simple hoops and studs go effortlessly from day to night; the textured bracelets and rings are unique but can still be worn season after season — all the while reflecting the casually cool lifestyle of the Orange County coastline. Malibu Country Mart, 3900 Cross Creek Rd., Ste. 4, Malibu.

Less is More
Founded in Toronto in 2015 by Noura Sakkhija and her husband, Majed Masad, Mejuri will soon open its first West Coast showroom in Los Angeles on Melrose — complete with the brand’s first-ever permanent ear-piercing studio. Founded in 2015, the collection has gained more than half a million Instagram followers who can’t get enough of the couple’s minimalist vision and high-quality, everyday pieces, such as a signet ring set with sapphires, sculptural bands that beg to be stacked, or dainty 14-karat gold hoops perfect for self-gifting. Because Mejuri wants guests to find their own style, the new showroom will be entirely free of glass cases, encouraging experimentation. And speaking of bursts of creativity: The jewelry brand has just collaborated with shoe designer Tamara Mellon to craft two 14-karat gold anklets — one a spinoff cuban link design, the other a dainty wraparound chain — that aficionados can work into their jewelry wardrobes. 8404 Melrose Ave., L.A.
