The Italian house’s new VLogo Moon bag is now in orbit

Inspired by the shape of a crescent moon, Valentino Garavani’s VLogo Moon bag joins a roster of the house’s star carryalls, from Rockstud to Locò designs. The new lunar-derived hobo-style bag is both a reminder of what lies beyond in the universe and a timeless curved symbol nodding to moon phases and geometric lines. Taking on the spirit of Earth’s closest celestial body also allows the soft leather accessory, adorned with a bold metal chain and elliptic VLogo, to allude to the fantastic aspects of outer space. Crafted from Stampa Alce–textured leather, the Moon bag is available in a range of hues, from yellow, blush, or black to the bold red of the Italian house’s ready-to-wear spring/summer 2024 collection shown in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts that culminated in eye-catching shades of the distinctive color.
The curve of the bag’s silhouette also mimics the malleable forms of the designs devised by creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. The VLogo Moon bag appeared in multiple iterations throughout Piccioli’s latest show, from an extra-large shape with its relaxed carryall daytime appeal to a miniature version for nights out on the town. The multiple straps — including the chain and a detachable leather handle that allow the wearer to hang it in a cross-body style or carry by hand — allow for quick day-to-evening transitions. A zipper closure and an interior slip pocket ensure everything remains in place regardless of the bag’s orbit as it makes its way down streets, around corners, and across town.
