Naviva is designed to feel like a far-flung, exotic retreat — and it’s closer than you might think

The three-hour flight from the West Coast, the idyllic surfing beach, the renowned staff — the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita is known for giving its loyal guests numerous reasons to return. And now, with the opening of Naviva, it’s offering something even more special. The 15-room resort — the smallest Four Seasons in the world — occupies 48 acres adjacent to its sister 177-room property and operates as an exclusive sanctuary where every meal, activity, and experience is designed just for you. A pre-arrival Zoom call with one of the property’s guides prepares the resort to create a fully tailored experience for you. A private sunset soundbath? Omakase sushi experience? Remote beach picnic with a Mexican wine pairing? A private ice bath and breathwork session? The Naviva team is keen to create special memories for its guests, but the resort excels most at something you don’t see: other guests. Limited to only adults and with no non-guests allowed on property (Four Seasons Punta Mita guests are not able to access Naviva, but Naviva guests can have full privileges at the Four Seasons), the serene haven feels like a magical escape.
Further adding to the exotic feeling of the resort are the rooms themselves. Luxury Frontiers — the same architects of Camp Sarika at Amangiri and other acclaimed getaways like the Belmond’s Eagle Island Lodge in Botswana — is responsible for the design of the safari-inspired bungalows, complete with separate living rooms and expansive bathrooms with soaking tubs and showers big enough for two. Most of the rooms feature up to 1,722 square feet of space and even include their own ocean-view decks with private plunge pools, firepits, and hammocks. As romantic as the experience can be, solo travelers might take delight in Naviva’s themed weekends, such as the upcoming “For the Love of the Kitchen” culinary retreat featuring five acclaimed female chefs, including vegan guru Leslie Durso and Iron Chef alum Claudette Zepeda. fourseasons.com.
