San Francisco welcomed 45 exhibitors from around the world for FOG Design+Art‘s ninth edition, in celebration of the absolute best of modern and contemporary art and design. Taking place at Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture—and benefitting SFMOMA’s Architecture and Design Accession Program—FOG has, over the years, raised funds for the acquisition of over 55 important works from the fair for the museum’s permanent collection.

As always, a major highlight of the event was the Fair’s Preview Gala where aesthetes, collectors, afficionados, artists, and dealers came together to get a first look and, of course, earmark favorite pieces for their own collections or clients. Co-chairs Douglas Durkin, Stanlee Gatti, Katie Paige, Sarah Wendell Sherrill, and Susan Swig were joined by several hundred guests and arts patrons including: Komal Shah and Gaurav Garg (who served as Honorary Chairs), Maria Manetti Shrem, Sako Fisher, Denise Bradley-Tyson, Lisa Zabelle, Mary Beth Shimmon, Nancy and Paul Pelosi, Carmen Legarda, Lisa Goldman, Alison Pincus, Brad Gerstner, Yves Béhar and Sabrina Buell, Krista Giovara, Will and Jen Wick, Allison Speer, Christine Suppes, Dede Wilsey, Alexis and Trevor Traina, Todd Traina, Leslie Chihuly, Owen Wilson and Patrick Herning, among others.

Following the opening night festivities, the four-day program of events in January included a series of conversations on topics such as the work of artists Joan Brown and Edward Hopper, generative art and the future of NFTs, how art can affect climate change and the importance of making museums matter for future generations.

Participating dealers and galleries were made up, in part by Gladstone Gallery, Hostler Burrows, and David Zwirner—all from New York, Galerie Chantal Crousel from Paris, Gallery Fumi from London, Monte Carlo’s Lebreton, Gió Marconi Gallery out of Milan, Marc Selwyn Fine Art from Beverly Hills, as well as Casemore Gallery, Fraenkel Gallery, Jessica Silverman, Micki Meng, and Berggruen Gallery from San Francisco. Major sponsorship was this year welcomed from Christie’s, Goldman Sachs, and UOVO.
