An extraordinary array of diamonds and colorful gemstones chronicle the emotional spectrum of love in Harry Winston’s new Winston With Love collection on display at its Beverly Hills salon through October 4. The new high jewelry collection, the House’s latest introduction from its ongoing exploration of the current “Love Is” theme, are divided into 39 designs grouped into four chapters combining colored stones and diamonds with precious metals. Pieces from the chapters — based on an acrostic poem of the letters that spell “love” — incorporate the House founder’s innovative philosophy using gems to guide and inspire the shape of rings and necklaces.
The Beverly Hills salon evokes the House’s deep Hollywood roots; its jewelry has graced the necks of Jennifer Lopez, Kate Hudson, and perhaps most famously Marilyn Monroe, making appearances onscreen as each heroine navigates the gamut of feelings from the first spark of light at the beginning of a relationship to a budding obsession to the possibility of vows and perhaps even an eternity intertwined. So too, the collection charts a course from the introductory Sparks chapter interpreting the “L” in “love” (signifying “light”) as earrings shaped like exploding fireworks with mixed metal rays. Such fiery beginnings establish the House’s touchstones of color, movement, meaning and form.
Winston’s gem-setting expertise surfaces in high jewelry suites headlined by brightly-hued orange, purple and red gemstones to symbolize love’s intense heat and conjure the “O” in “love” (for “obsession”). Subtle heart motifs in earrings, pendants and rings comprise romantic V (“vow”) designs. And interlocking hearts or twisting combinations of diamonds and rubies celebrating two linked lives make up the final phase of love, “E” for eternity. Matching climbing earrings, rings and Endless Love necklaces seemingly lack a beginning or end, celebrating the intertwining of two lives.
The multidimensional bold diamonds, rubies, sapphires and a plethora of other stones in the Winston With Love collection’s heartfelt cocktail rings and head-turning high jewelry suites filling salon windows this month can also be viewed via private appointment. 310 N. Rodeo Dr., Beverly Hills, 310-271-8554.
