Elle’s annual Women in Hollywood party welcomed a new group of honorees to the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills on Tuesday, November 19, for this year’s dinner and awards evening celebrating creative and cultural contributions to film, television, and music by an array of talent. The evening, presented by Ralph Lauren and Harry Winston, brought out scores of women and their costars and directors. Many were dressed by Lauren, including Selena Gomez, Julianne Moore, Mikey Madison, Demi Moore, Cameron Diaz, Eva Longoria, and Leila George. “The list of women that are being honored tonight is extraordinary,” said Colman Domingo, also in a look created by the designer. The evening’s red carpet reunited Demi Moore with former castmates Rita Wilson, Melanie Griffith, and Rosie O’Donnell as well as new friends and costars Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton.
Honorees included Madison, Gomez, Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, Demi Moore, Saoirse Ronan, and Danielle Deadwyler alongside Julianne Moore and Swinton, who were introduced by their The Room Next Door director, Pedro Almodóvar. “I doubted there would be a project that would put two old redheads together, and then along came Pedro,” said Julianne Moore. “Generally, when women are cast opposite each other there are several scenarios we find ourselves in. We are a mother and a daughter, we are lovers, we are antagonists and want to kill each other, but if we are friends, one of us is in the lead and the other one is the sidekick. So, I don’t know about you but nobody in my friendships is a sidekick,” she said, adding, “I’m honored to be among you all tonight and so happy to be talking about what we as women mean to each other.” Her costar Swinton agreed: “We are so blessed to have all the alliances that bind us, and may they sustain us to the end, I believe they will.”
Joining Elle’s Nina Garcia, Saldaña chose a Schiaparelli dress, Deadwyler donned Prada, Ronan wrapped herself in The Row, and a number of others toasted the honorees, including Niecy Nash, Selma Blair, Ryan Destiny, Kristy Scott, Helen Hunt, Jessie Andrews, Toks Olagundoye, Justine Lupe, Joshua Jackson, Kiki Layne, Monica Barbaro, Sophie Thatcher, Victoria Justice, and Xochitl Gomez. “It feels amazing to be around all of these women, all of these artists,” said Wilson, standing with Griffith and O’Donnell.
