FASHION TRUST U.S. founding board member Tania Fares gathered Kate Hudson, Kerry Washington, Hailey Bieber, Julia Fox, Colman Domingo, Law Roach, Cara Delevingne, Becky G., Fergie, Ciara, Maddie Ziegler, Laura Harrier, Barbara Palvin, Sofia Boutella, Jeremy Scott, Willy Chavarria, Laverne Cox, Petra Collins, Gabrielle Union, Erin Wasson, and many more for the emerging talent nonprofit’s third annual awards gala held at The Lot at Formosa, in Los Angeles, on Tuesday, April 8. Also on hand for the evening hosted by Keke Palmer were Saint Laurent’s Anthony Vaccarello and Marni’s Francesco Risso, whose entourage included Domingo, Fox, Collins, Piero Golia, and Courtney Trop. FTUS board members Karla Welch, Maha Dakhil, Laura Brown, and Carlos Nazario joined a number of judges from the fashion world to see the ready-to-wear and jewelry created by selected designers and gathered to bestow a series of awards to fund, nurture, and mentor the new American designers whose work they felt to be most compelling.
“I think it is important for our fashion community to come together to support and recognize up-and-coming designers who will potentially shape the future of the fashion industry,” said FTUS Ambassador Monique Lhuillier, who is the creative director of her eponymous Los Angeles–based line. She looked on as Natasha Bedingfield performed and honors went to various creatives pushing the boundaries of fashion and design. The evening’s Ready-to-Wear Award, sponsored by Google Shopping, went to Rachel Scott of Diotima, whose line is rooted in crochet, drawing on her Jamaican heritage. Roach and Google Shopping’s Stephanie Horton were on hand to present it. St. John’s Lauren Parrish and Mandy West bestowed the Graduate Award on London-born knitwear designer Patrick Taylor. Domingo gave the Accessories Award to Dani Griffiths of CLYDE for her line of hats, gloves, and bags. Ciara handed Rebecca Zeijdal-Paz of Beck Jewels the Jewelry Award, and Hudson gave Ghanaian native Nana Kwame Adusei of the L.A.-based label Kwame Adusei the Sustainability Award. Additionally, an inaugural Honorary Award went to Vaccarello, presented by Bieber — a Saint Laurent ambassador and friend who donned one of his designs for the evening.
