The French skincare line celebrated 30 years with a dinner held at Chateau Marmont

Leave it to Abigail Spencer to turn a skincare celebration into a soulful, pink-drenched soirée with the intimacy of a backyard gathering and the glamour of old Hollywood. To celebrate Bioderma’s 30th anniversary, Spencer hosted an intimate dinner at Chateau Marmont that struck a thoughtful balance of elegance, charm, and warmth.
As the evening sun slipped behind Sunset Boulevard, guests including Zooey Deschanel, Chriselle Lim, and Amanda Kloots settled into a candlelit courtyard adorned with florals from Spencer’s own County Line Florals. The evening paid tribute to the brand’s iconic Sensibio H2O Micellar Water — the cult-favorite rinse-free cleanser, a skincare essential beloved by makeup artists, celebrities, and beauty editors worldwide.
“We wanted to think pink, from the lightest blush to shocking pink to deep magentas,” Spencer said. “Each arrangement had to be removable for the family-style service. There was real science behind the romance.”
Spencer, radiant in a sparkly pink dress, gave a speech that set the tone: warm, witty, and deeply personal. “Bioderma is my best gal,” she said. “She and I have been cleaning this face with micellar water since 2006. It’s gentle, effective, and like a true French bestie — reminding me less is more.”
Guests were gifted limited-edition watercolor artworks: a rendering of the Chateau wrapped in Spencer’s floral vision, painted by longtime Chateau staffer Kevin Johnson. Each was individually numbered and tucked at their place setting.
“Only in L.A. do you have to hand out fire hazards to keep people past 9 p.m.,” Spencer joked, as sparklers were lit for the birthday serenade — casting a warm, celebratory glow over the night.
