C Magazine and Orlebar Brown celebrated the opening of the London-based menswear line’s fourth California outpost at the Brentwood Country Mart on Wednesday, June 3. The courtyard gathering — hosted by OB founder Adam Brown, CMO Trevor Hardy, and C’s Jennifer Smith — was held on a tranquil coastal evening and included an OB cart with designs from the brand’s new high summer collection. The boutique itself, stocked with polos, pants, shirts, and trunks based on men’s bespoke trousers that are meant to be worn from the shore to lunch, cocktails, and whatever lies ahead, is slated to open Sunday, June 14. “The store celebrates the intersection of Hollywood and California creativity, Riviera chic, and British tailoring all fused together,” Brown said of the new space. On this evening, the effortless vibe of the resort-ready clothes matched that of the open-air shopping enclave, as artisanal St-Germain cocktails made with the elderflower blossom liqueur made the rounds.

“When I founded Orlebar Brown almost 20 years ago, a store in California was always the dream. The mood, the sun, the lifestyle, it embodied everything I hoped OB would be,” Brown said. “And when I dreamed of my dream store, Brentwood Country Mart was the dream location. Two decades on, dreams do come true. I would have loved it to happen sooner, but good things come to those who wait.” The vivid color palettes and Italian-crafted linens that headline the summer offering were here, as were relaxed fit broderie anglaise shirts, plus blazers, striped crochet polos, and outerwear in half-zip styles in addition to the quick-drying tailored trunks in four lengths. From prints to paisley designs to seersucker stripes, there were so many OB styles to contemplate for the sunny season ahead.

“Our product mix has evolved over the years and I feel it’s perfectly suited to a Brentwood customer who appreciates fine European fabrics and craftsmanship, expressive prints and color, and discerning details,” Brown said. “This is a uniform that’s just as comfortable for weekends in Brentwood, short breaks in Cabo, or vacations in Capri or St. Tropez.”
