At its Rodeo Drive boutique on the evening of Thursday, May 16, Gucci hosted a private party in celebration of photographer Paige Powell and the release of her new book series.

Powell — an art world fixture famed for her candid artist portraits  — was joined by a crowd of creatives, including photographer Matthew Rolston, artist Rosson Crow and singer-songwriter Troye Sivan, who admired the Beverly Hills shop’s newest pieces; perused the lensman’s in-store photo collage installation; thumbed through the four-volume slipcased book collection; and had their copies signed by Powell herself.

Eponymously titled and produced by Gucci, Paige Powell (Dashwood Books, $295) includes a book on Powell’s storied life (she was a close confidante of Andy Warhol and dated such iconic artists as Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat), and three volumes on different categories of her work: her 1984 visual diary installation, “Beulah Land”; “Animals”; and “Artists Eating.” The limited-edition release also features rare shots of painter and filmmaker Julian Schnabel, musical artist Madonna, artist Ed Ruscha, musician David Bowie and other luminaries.
