Los Angeles’ art, music and fashion insiders came together on Monday, Sept. 21, at the downtown theater of L.A. Dance Project, to kick off the troupe’s anticipated fall festival.

Contemporary fashion label COS, which hosted the event in collaboration with LADP’s founder/creative director Benjamin Millepied and actor Margaret Qualley, welcomed guests including Andie MacDowell, Kaitlynn Dever, Shannen Doherty and Nathalie Love to an evening celebrating the future of dance in the city.

The affair showcased three performances from the series — including “Adagio in B Minor,” a piece choreographed by LADP principal dancer Janie Taylor featuring costumes by COS — after which everyone was invited to the on-site “L’After” party DJed by Cashmere Cat. There, attendees were treated to gourmet tacos and mezcal cocktails, plus a surprise fourth performance from the festival: “Split Step” by Emily Mast and Zack Winokur.

To further mark their partnership, COS is hosting a live panel conversation with Millepied and Taylor on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at its Downtown L.A. boutique (set inside the former Olympic Theatre, originally built for the 1932 Summer Olympics). Open to all, the evening will pair the discussion — touching on the creatives’ careers and the mission of L.A. Dance Project; moderated by Vanity Fair’s Britt Hennermuth — with canapés, drinks, discounted shopping and an exclusive screening of COS’ new short film capturing “Adagio in B Minor.”
