The interior designer hosted an exclusive dinner at Saint Joseph’s Art Society in celebration of the label’s Fall/Winter 2019 collection

The weather may not provide any indication that the season has changed in San Francisco, but designer Ken Fulk’s recent return from his summertime retreat in Provincetown is about as accurate as The Farmer’s Almanac. With autumn officially in full swing, Fulk, along with Valentino brand ambassador Carlos Souza and the ever stylish Sam Broekema, hosted a private dinner at Saint Joseph’s Arts Society on Thursday, Oct. 17, to celebrate the Valentino Fall/Winter 2019 collection. Among those in attendance were Vanessa Getty, Denise Hale, and Mary Beth and David Shimmon.
At the start of the evening, Valentino-clad models sauntered through the second-level Carpenter’s Workshop Gallery — and among the handpicked guests, such as Barbara Brown, Allison Speer and Kurt Wootton — in beautifully graphic looks from both womenswear and menswear collections. Chrisa Pappas, who trekked in from Sacramento with her husband, Dean Sioukas, finally had a reason to pull a never-before-worn Valentino from her closet. Lisa Zabelle also chose a striped cocktail dress she’d been waiting for the right moment to wear. Jessica Moment stunned in a graphic dress from the fall collection, as did DJ Dre Ngozi, who looked statuesque spinning the evening’s sounds.
After a sufficient number of mezcal cocktails, excellent wine and Champagne, everyone, including Carol Bonnie, Vandy Boudreau, artist Emilio Villalba and Zane Jones, gathered for dinner downstairs in the Social Club. Pam and Jack Preston, Corinne Sklar, Ryan Kobza, Sonya Molodetskaya, Farah Markas and other guests at the U-shaped table — set for just over 60 — enjoyed a three-course meal and socialized long into the night.
