With Paris Design Week underway, French and American tastemakers converged Thursday, September 4, at the new RH Paris, The Gallery, on the Champs-Élysées. The space spans seven floors and nearly 42,000 square feet filled with furniture, antiques, artifacts, and art, as well as the rooftop restaurant La Petit RH and a second eatery, Le Jardin RH. Chair and CEO Gary Friedman gathered friends from California and European creatives alike in the French capital, welcoming Catherine Deneuve, Zoe Saldaña, Ayesha Curry, Theo James, Géraldine Guyot-Arnault, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, François-Louis Vuitton and Marie-Laure Vuitton, Pierre Hardy, and a host of others through the gold leaf gates and bronze doors into a glamorous one-stop shop for everything from landscape architecture to living quarters and powder rooms.
RH’s first foray into hospitality in Europe opened as the 10-day international design showcase in the City of Light celebrated its 15th anniversary with a mix of exhibitions, furniture collection presentations, and store openings. Inside RH, guests toasted amid the gallery’s assortment of pieces designed by San Francisco’s Jonathan Browning, French architect Thierry Lemaire, and a host of others, including Barcelona-based Mario Ruiz. In addition to touring the freestanding RH Interior Design Studio with its three-dimensional image of Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man, attendees got a look at a trove of rare books including volumes by Vitruvius, Andrea Palladio, and Georges-Eugène Haussmann inside the Architecture & Design Bibliotheca.
Beneath the space’s soaring atrium was a Petrossian caviar bar, and sushi and patisserie delights by French chef Cyril Lignac made the rounds as guests toured the interiors and took in the sights including views of the Eiffel Tower, the Grand Palais, and the I. M. Pei–designed Louvre Pyramid, all visible from Le Petit RH, the jewel box–like restaurant topping the newest addition to the storied avenue in Paris. rh.com.
