C Magazine founder Jennifer Smith joined Amanda Harlan Maltas and Tara Rowghani at the Montecito home of interior designer Windsor Smith for cocktails and dinner on Thursday, November 13, to celebrate the opening of David Webb’s new boutique just down the road. Rowghani, David Webb board director, noted that the new space at the Rosewood Miramar Beach resort is the New York jeweler’s only California location. The line, founded in 1948, continues to create pieces — still made on the Upper East Side — from an archive of more than 100,000 sketches by its namesake. “Ninety percent of them have never been made,” she said. “He worked out how stones play together, from coral to emeralds to sapphires.”
Animal-inspired baubles from the new boutique were on view throughout the night, along with hammered gold designs. Guests including Jordana Brewster, Jessica Hart, Amanda Chantal Bacon, Elisa Stad, Tracy Robbins, Tina Moss, Anne Towbes, Kate Shrout, Sima Morrison, Jackie Schaffer, Carolyn Miller, Belle Hahn, Elizabeth Khuri Chandler, Amanda Lee, Jessica Christ, and many more shared a Ruinart toast and dined on farmers’ market fall squash and pan-fired sourdough paired with 2015 The Maiden, Harlan Estate’s Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Next, Mediterranean branzino and reverse-seared Australian tenderloin made the rounds with a 2005 blend of The Maiden as those in attendance began to adorn themselves in the bold, playful pieces.
