Get it while it’s hot at these fleeting shops, from Amanu to Zulu & Zephyr

Words by ANUSH J. BENLIYAN and MARIE LOOK

Hot Tropics
Brazilian womenswear brand Farm Rio has debuted a summer pop-up in Los Angeles chock-a-block with vibrant jumpsuits, breezy dresses and swimwear in tropical prints, marking the first time fans on the West Coast can shop the label in person. In line with the brand’s flagship in New York and its pop-up in the Hamptons, the L.A. outpost has been transformed into a lush Brazilian retreat by renowned international designer Marcelo Rosenbaum and Bruno Medeiros of Casa. Open through August, it features greenery in every nook, woven drop lights and curios by Brazilian designers, in addition to an assortment of kaleidoscopic apparel plus accessories like woven bags by WaiWai Rio and Nannacay, Julia Gastin jewelry and Zerezes sunglasses. Best yet, the brand donates one tree in the Amazon forest with every purchase to support the recovery of endangered forest ecosystems. Through August. Westfield Century City, The Atrium, Level 1, 10250 Santa Monica Blvd.

High Brow
At its temporary outpost at The Grove, Hourglass Cosmetics is paying homage to the brow, offering its full range of 25 eyebrow products under one roof. Among the pop-up’s assortment is the cruelty-free beauty brand’s newest release: the Arch Brow micro sculpting pencil, whose 1.4-millimeter tip can mimic the ultra-thin strokes of hair, allowing for a natural, feathered look. Also available at the Unrestricted Brow pop-up are select Hourglass’ bestsellers including foundation; complimentary on-site makeup applications and tutorials by experts; and exclusive meet-and-greets with beauty gurus including Karen Sarahi Gonzalez, aka iluvsarahii (July 20). Open through July 24. 189 The Grove Dr., L.A.

Best Foot Forward
Amanu, the Los Angeles-based sandal label from celebrity stylist Anita Patrickson, has set up shop in Venice for a summer residency. Like the brand’s permanent West Hollywood studio, the quaint pop-up — housed within The Piece Collective, a lifestyle boutique bungalow on Abbot Kinney — features in-house makers who craft the leather-soled footwear on the spot. Choose from Amanu’s signature, customizable styles (including the best-selling gladiator sandals) or design your own bespoke pair, and see them come to fruition before your eyes. Through August. 1629 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice.

In the Swim
Zulu & Zephyr, an Australian lifestyle brand, welcomes Angelenos to its first-ever pop-up store at Platform in Culver City. Having gained a following for its effortlessly cool beachwear and contemporary swimwear in neutral colorways, the independent label is owned and operated by a small team of creatives who choose lower-impact materials and processes, practicing responsible sourcing and manufacturing. In addition to stocking Australian sunglasses label Velvet Canyon and jewelry by The Line of Sun, Zulu & Zephyr’s Platform pop-up is currently the only store in the world to carry its Signatures collection, encompassing swim separates and one-pieces in simple yet satisfying silhouettes, plus everyday staples like light-wash denim shorts, “boyfriend” button-downs and organic tees. Through September. Platform, 8850 Washington Blvd., Culver City.
