Shedding winter for spring is a rite of passage. Our metaphorical winter has lasted longer than one season, and we all are eager, if not entirely determined, to embrace the sun on our shoulders, and the spring in our step. To that end, there is The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel. Commanding a coastal bluff, with a rapturous panorama of the Pacific Ocean, the resort is top choice among luxury travelers—and not for the most obvious reason, although its view is both a pinnacle of, and paramount to, the resort. It also combines intuitive, high-tough service, genuine experience, and every possible extravagance: a premium club level, oceanfront dining, a world-class spa and direct beach access to three miles of sandy shores beyond.
How, then, does a perennially ascendent, highly accoladed hotel raise its game? It starts with sanctuary, 396 luxury guestrooms and 29 suites, to be exact, each a newly revitalized refuge featuring airy, coastal-inspired interiors reflecting the resort’s immaculate oceanfront setting, and each an absolute eyeful. Depending on the room, one wakes to spectacle—a view of shimmering Pacific seas or the garden and pool. The suites are especially gracious, with freestanding soaking tubs to make one question if they are in their room or the spa, and some with new bespoke furnishings. Still other rooms and suites feature the quintessential gesture of SoCal hospitality—personal outdoor fireplaces. The particularly discriminating look to the resort’s premium level, The Ritz-Carlton Club, for its dedicated concierge, exclusive services, and entrée to the Club Level Lounge. Refreshed as an open-concept, this warm, high-toned lounge offers culinary and beverage options all day, including select California wines, and coastal views to backdrop a quiet moment or pleasing meetup of friends, family or colleagues.
There is a view for dinner, too. Whether it’s Richard Sandoval’s savory pan-Latin cuisine at RAYA, or the prime pasture-raised cuts at chic steakhouse enoSTEAK, to dish delectably is the order of every day at resort. Certainly, between the handcrafted beverages, small plates and front-row seat to the sunsets and surf of Salt Creek Beach, there is plenty to take in at outdoor lounge 180blu, too.
Indulgences of a more soothing sort is the province of The Ritz-Carlton Spa, an immersive, coastal-like environment whose range of sea-inspired spa treatments promise many tranquil returns. Budding naturalists, meanwhile, will find much to discover at the Eco-Adventure Center. One can, of course, just set their sandals aside for an afternoon poolside or a walk down the beach. Guests of The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel are spoiled for choice—and this spring, those options are limitless.
