When Napa Valley’s finest wines meet sweeping views of the American Riviera in a historic five-star setting, it’s a dream combination you simply can’t turn down. This September, the luxurious El Encanto, A Belmond Hotel in Santa Barbara is giving you a reason to pack your bags with its latest iteration of the Taste of El Encanto series, featuring California’s revered Colgin Cellars.

The three-day event, helmed by the winery’s COO and Master Sommelier, Paul Roberts, invites you to indulge in a series of tastings and workshops that will expand your palate and reveal the depths of Colgin’s nearly 30-year history. Colgin Cellars’ focus lies in crafting elegant wines of freshness, perfume, and minerality from a few of Napa’s esteemed hillside vineyards. Vintage, cellar selections of the estate’s four red wines will be on full display throughout the event.

Oenophiles can savor special events such as the “Taste Like a Sommelier” workshop, led by Roberts, and the “Bringing Colgin Cellars to You” tasting and pairing experience, all while taking in breathtaking vistas of Santa Barbara’s coast. But perhaps most enticing is a six-course pairing dinner highlighting Colgin Cellars’ wines alongside dishes from El Encanto’s executive chef Bruno Lopez, who cut his teeth at Michelin-starred restaurant L’Espadon in Paris, France.

Explore the storied century-old hotel which has drawn Golden Age icons like Clark Gable and Carole Lombard, former presidents (Franklin D. Roosevelt has a cottage named for him), and stars like Barbra Streisand and Sharon Stone. It’s no wonder the El Encanto — where Spanish Colonial-style architecture, private bungalows, bougainvillea-draped walls, and cobblestone paths create pared-down elegance befitting of California luxury — has served as Hollywood’s favorite hideaway since its founding in 1918.

Beyond wining and dining, the package includes daily breakfast, two nights’ stay accommodations, and a half-bottle of Colgin Cellars’ beloved “IX Estate” 2018 to cap the evening in your private bungalow. It’s the perfect toast to end another California summer.

September 12-14. From $4,331/person. 800 Alvarado Place, Santa Barbara, 805-845-5800.
