In an exclusive street style portfolio for C magazine, photographer Garcon Jon observes what makes a creative class of Angelenos tick

On a recent visit to Los Angeles, roving street style photographer Jonathan Daniel Pryce (aka Garcon Jon) turned his lens to the city’s east side and some of its creative inhabitants. Using Hollywood’s Villa Carlotta as his home base, he captured the sunset as it washed over Griffith Observatory, the iconic neon side outside The Last Bookstore downtown, and the tree-shaded streets of Los Feliz — all, quite fittingly, using expired Ektachrome Color Slide film, giving his images a welcome bout of nostalgia in these fast-moving digital times.
1/11: “Stevan is an actor with infectious enthusiasm,” Pryce says. “Growing up in Redondo Beach, he talked about his misfit adolescence and unconventional family. He was an open book.”

4/11: Byron Rodriguez, originally from Boston, is photographed in East Hollywood.
5/11: “True happiness comes from giving,” says Renan Pacheno, who was shot on an uncharacteristically cloudy afternoon at Villa Carlotta.
6/11: On English actress Hannah Ware: “Her vintage wardrobe resembled that of an accomplished stylist,” Pryce notes.

8/11: Actor and director Sam Morgan is originally from Fortville, Ind. “L.A. can be really wonderful because when you’re in alignment with yourself, you can see incredible things come together,” he says.

10/11: “I’m an Aries. I once read that I’m passive until a core value is crossed, and then I become fire. I think that’s pretty accurate,” actor Jamie Wise says.
