Gearheads Gather at This Special Anniversary Car Show
Classic car enthusiasts and collectors have their wheels spinning toward the Central Coast for the 75th edition of the PEBBLE BEACH CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE on Sunday, August 16. Once again the world’s most stunning classic and beautiful automobiles will gather on the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links for California’s most celebrated car shows. As part of the event’s diamond anniversary, the Concours will feature a collection of Pebble Beach Road Racing greats that pay homage to the evolution of sporting cars in the 1950s, as well as showcase the “Stovebolt Special” — an experimental and much-modified 1950 HWM that was the first Chevy V8 used in road racing on April 22, 1956. Also on hand, an historic display of Lamborghini Miuras — the largest gathering ever — in honor of the coveted car’s debut in 1966. Other presentations include a lineup of Ferrari Chinetti and NART competition cars and a tribute to four cars originally unveiled at the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair: Duesenberg’s Arlington Torpedo Sedan, Packard’s Sport Sedan by Dietrich, Cadillac’s 16-cylinder Aerodynamic Coupe, and Pierce-Arrow’s Silver Arrow. See This Exhibition Dedicated to an L.A. Art Legend
A remarkably prolific and vital artist until his passing in 2018, Ed Moses was less driven by self-expression and more committed to exploration and discovery through a wide range of visual styles, from complicated graphite drawings to an array of painted and visual languages, that offered a peek into his wildly vivid imagination. In celebration of the centennial of his birth, WILLIAM TURNER GALLERY presents Moses @ 100, an exhibition featuring a well-honed selection of works that define the artist’s six-decade career. As part of the renowned Ferus Gallery circle that counted legendary talents like Ed Ruscha, Larry Bell, and Edward Kienholz among its members, Moses was “central to the history of art making in Los Angeles for more than half a century,” says Michael Govan, LACMA’s CEO and the institution’s Wallis Annenberg Director, during the artist’s solo exhibition there in 2015. The Tasting Kitchen 2.0 Welcomes Its Original Chef for a Reboot
THE TASTING KITCHEN in Venice is back with Casey Lane, its original chef, in the hot seat. Lane left a decade ago to pursue other projects, and after a fire and remodel closed the restaurant for almost two years, the beloved Italian spot has returned. When the Tasting Kitchen opened in 2009, Lane — who came out of the Portland restaurant scene — charmed Angelenos with handwritten and annotated menus based on what was available that day at the farmers markets. Aside from changing the menu every day, he also butchered whole animals, made his own pasta and charcuterie, and cured and pickled fresh goods. A few of the dishes that might pop up on today’s offerings: kampachi with melon mostarda, stone fruit and spot prawn aguachile, mackerel with yellow tomatoes and colatura (anchovy essence), and milk-braised veal cheek with bone marrow and horseradish. The room’s vibe is now warmer, with gauzy curtains, lots of wood, and a palette of ochre, chocolate, and burnt orange, and there are additional seats at the bar and on the mezzanine upstairs — just like in the old days. A Phoenix-like Palisades Village Reemerges Brighter Than Ever
As the surrounding community continues to rebuild 19 months after the devastating fire tore through it, PALISADES VILLAGE is reopening on August 15 with a mix of beloved mainstays and new additions. Two Elyse Walker boutiques, A.L.C., Isabel Marant, and Brunello Cucinelli are now joined by L.A.-based beauty emporium Violet Grey, denim den Mother, resort staple Xirena, and more. The 100,000-square-foot shopping spot initially developed in 2018 by Rick Caruso again houses an Erewhon grocery store, the Netflix-operated Bay Theater, and Blue Ribbon Sushi as well as Paige, Buck Mason, Toteme, Veronica Beard, Jennifer Meyer, Golden Goose, and Zimmermann, with Nancy Silverton’s new steakhouse Spacca Tutto joining the lineup in addition to Trish Wescoat Pound’s TWP, Lili Chemla’s loungy Leset, and former neighborhood staples Loomey’s Toys and K Bakery. Giddyup! Polo Season Is Back on the Pacific Coast
Ponies will gallop on the pitch, mallets will swing, and divots will be stomped at the SANTA BARBARA POLO & RACQUET CLUB during its long-awaited High Goal season. Bringing together world-renowned players and elite teams, the annual happening’s lineup of tournaments culminates with the 2026 US Polo Association’s Pacific Coast Open — a championship considered to be one of the most important in American polo.
