Holiday traditions, but make it fashion
Words by ANUSH J. BENLIYAN
Ten months ago, chef Massimo Bottura (of the world-renowned Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy) debuted his first-ever stateside restaurant in collaboration with Gucci CEO Marco Bizzarri. Perched atop the Italian label’s Rodeo Drive boutique, the Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura Beverly Hills pairs the three-Michelin-star chef’s lauded signature plates with new California-inspired, farmers market-driven dishes.

While it has had to temporarily close its dining room during the pandemic, L.A.’s Gucci Osteria is now — in accordance with Bottura’s knack for artfully reimagining classic Italian cuisine through a contemporary lens — offering a limited-edition panettone for the holiday season.

Packaged in a pink Gucci-designed tin box emblazoned with the fashion house’s eye motif, the fragrant handmade sweet bread — a time-honored Italian Christmastime tradition — is available in a classic version with raisins, as well as a gianduia chocolate edition with candied orange peel ($150 each), both of which pair beautifully with a sweet white-grape wine or a zabaione custard.
The soft, warm-scented treat is housed in an exclusive Gucci-designed cylindrical tin box.

The panettone special comes just as the restaurant launched a debut takeaway service for which chef de cuisine Mattia Agazzi created an exclusive to-go menu (and vegetarian counterpart) with such warm-weather dishes as tortellini in brodo and lentil minestrone with Parmigiano. Italian native Agazzi, who was formerly the sous chef at the original Gucci Osteria in Florence, hopes the multisensory dining experience of the new takeout option will bring the powerful, comforting memories of his home into yours.
To place panettone and/or takeaway orders, contact gucciosteria.bh@gucci.com. The takeaway service is available Thursdays through Sundays between 1 pm and 5:30 pm. 347 N. Rodeo Dr., Beverly Hills.
