Ferragamo Fetes Its New Dawn With Coast To Coast Parties

The Italian house previewed Maximilian Davis’ debut collection at parties in Beverly Hills, Costa Mesa, New York and Miami

Ferragamo hosted a series of cocktail parties at four of its coastal boutiques to celebrate Maximilian Davis’ debut collection as creative director of the Florentine house with deep California roots. The UK-born designer looked to founder Salvatore Ferragamo’s beginnings as a shoemaker on Hollywood Boulevard for his minimalist Spring/Summer 2023 release, and capsule previews held in New York, Beverly Hills, Costa Mesa and Miami’s design district gave guests a first look at Davis’ vision. The captivating edit, A New Dawn, offering a glimpse of the house’s new direction, revealed silhouettes in modern shapes with a touch of glamor and a rich beachfront color palette mimicking costal sunrises and sunsets.

In New York, on November 8, Ivy Getty walked the red carpet at the house’s Fifth Avenue boutique alongside guests and tastemakers including Ajani Russell, Vanessa Hong, Sami Miro, Tanner Reese, Luke Meagher and Thakoon Panichgul who all joined Daniella Vitale, Ferragamo’s North American CEO. Second-skin suede dresses and pants with harness details were paired with all manner of showstopping footwear. Getty donned Davis’ Elina sandals with matte golden heels shaped in the house’s sculptural Gancini silhouette. Bronx-born, Dartmouth-educated twin sisters Angel and Dren Coleman who DJ as Angel + Dren, and are known for blending Afrobeats, R&B, Caribbean, hip-hop and reggae, served as the evening’s mix masters.

Next, Natasha Lyonne, Janicza Bravo, Amalie Gassmann, Kilo Kish, Salem Mitchell, Rickey Thompson and Nicolas Bru gathered in Beverly Hills on November 10, at the house’s Rodeo Drive boutique, where photographer and DJ Myles Hendrik manned the turntables. Guests wore sparkling separates with scattered crystals—created in homage to the house founder’s designs for Marilyn Monroe—paired with Wanda handbags with sculptural cut-outs on the carpet and also got a look at Davis’ work arranged inside the boutique.

After a stop in Costa Mesa the next evening at the house’s South Coast Plaza boutique where capsule looks from A New Dawn held pride of place, the party moved to Ferragamo’s new shop in Miami’s design district on November 17. Angel + Dren again took to the DJ booth to welcome guests including Alicia Pettitt, Georges Coupet, Sira Pevida, Claire Holt, and Gabriela Medina. Artist Hugh Bush, curator Silvia Cubina and designer Anthony Thomas Melillo, alongside a host of others including Sarah Harrelson, Marjorie Harris, Vita Sidorkina, and Christy and David Martin joined Vitale for a dinner held in partnership with Cultured Magazine at Michelle Rubell’s Miami Beach residence. Though the settings and venues changed, Davis’ polished less-is-more designs proved to be a fresh and captivating counterpoint at each outing.
