The resort wear line is collaborating with the Malibu mainstay through Labor Day
Words by ELIZABETH VARNELL
ORLEBAR BROWN founder Adam Brown began developing resort wear and particularly quick-drying swim trunks because he wanted to move from the pool to lunch in stylish designs suited for both environments. The line’s latest collaboration with the Malibu Beach Inn’s restaurant, Carbon Beach Club, underscores the point. A capsule collection of OB designs, including the trunks based on men’s bespoke trousers, is on offer through Labor Day weekend at the shoreside hotel. A dip in the Pacific is just steps away from a dining deck built atop the sandy shores of Carbon Beach, where local ingredients from One Gun Ranch and farmers’ markets comprise seasonal menus and turn up in dishes and drinks inspired by the takeover.
The British line’s matching sets, with graphic patterns printed across resort shirts as well as shorts — along with terry shirts, trousers, knitwear, polo shirts, jackets, and sweats — are polished and restaurant-ready. Accompanying the attire, a host of Orlebar Brown Beach Club beverages, inspired by the brand, include fresh cocktails and a nonalcoholic option. The bubbly Bulldog (named after the brand’s popular mid-length swim shorts) is made with tart cherry, fresh lime, Aperol, grenadine, and prosecco, while the O.G.O.B. is crafted with Flor de Cana dry rum, pineapple, orgeat, and Green Chartreuse. Also topping the drink list is a summer spritz with Campari, Bianco Vermouth, and Rumor rosé. For those skipping spirits, a quenching blend of cherry puree, lime juice, mint leaves, and cucumber slices paired with Seedlip garden rounds out the bespoke offerings. Whether one’s summer is ending or endless, the pop-up offers a refreshing take on the season’s mainstays. 22878 Pacific Coast Hwy., Malibu, 310-651-7777; orlebarbrown.com/us.
