ETRO’s holiday collection — awash in the paisley prints, silk, velvet, and saturated jewel tones of blue, green, and gold favored by the Milan-based house — is a reflection on spontaneous personal gatherings held on the heels of a grand celebration. Once the toasts have been made and the revelry begun, the clothes are a tribute to the way guests settle into intimate conversations and offhand chats with old friends or new acquaintances. Fittingly, creative director Marco De Vincenzo’s designs debuted in Los Angeles at a Masquerade Soirée the house held on Thursday, December 11, in partnership with The Lotus Group and the Los Angeles Opera at The Cedars, the Los Feliz mansion dreamed up by French film director Maurice Tourneur and inspired by the Duke of Alba’s Spanish villa.

All the guests, including David Harbour, Nigel Daly, and David Maisel, received papier-mâché masquerade masks made in partnership with The Original Venice Shop, the beloved atelier known for its Italian crafted masks and costumes. The evening included performances — an aria and a duet — by Los Angeles Opera singers, as well as an on-site pop-up boutique housing the holiday looks in the mansion room where Jimi Hendrix wrote his psychedelic song Purple Haze. Those gathered for the festivities also had the chance to taste Etro’s Milanese saffron and chocolate panettone created in collaboration with the Michelin-starred Milan restaurant Il Luogo Aimo e Nadia.
