The PALIHOTEL HOLLYWOOD has cool-friend energy. The 74-room property on Sunset gives off vibes of your most stylish friend’s home: The design is casual, comfortable, and clearly considered, with a harmonious mix of colors, patterns, textures, and finishes. Cumulatively, these decor grace notes make you feel relaxed and cared for. And when you go home, you’re refreshed and inspired to adopt some design details in your own home (don’t be surprised when you’re tempted to call the front desk and ask for the exact brand and shade name of at least one green paint color).

Avi Brosh, founder of Palisociety, is famous for creating visually layered spaces that balance different eras and approaches, and each of his properties has a distinct design point of view. At Palihotel Hollywood, that manifests as a reimagining of the mid-century motor court in Hollywood’s heyday, but with lots of soothing, soulful, and modern touches — as well as many shades of green and so much live greenery. Large-scale majesty palms, monsteras, and philodendrons flank the main entrance, which leads into a multi-use lobby space that spotlights comfort, color, and contrast. Peach nectar zellige tiles surround a banquette, and angular marble accent tables play off soft, sculptural Miss Muffet-y poufs.

The high impact of juxtaposed graphics continues in the courtyard pool area, where green-and-white striped chaise longues pop against a pinky-peach checkerboard patio. Traditional motifs like striped pillows and gingham curtains look modern when they’re offset by Scandi-cool wood wainscotting and floors and boldly patterned wallpaper.

Throughout the property, an overarching visual theme is an arch: In guest rooms, it’s a subtle nod, like soft-shouldered headboards and SMEG mini fridges, or half-circle ceilings over the vanities. In public spaces, the arced forms are more pronounced, like the rounded portal and swooping ceiling over the bar at Benny’s on the Blvd, and the big, generously curved umbrellas out by the pool. Everywhere you look there is a place to get comfortable, relax, and stock up on souvenir-style inspiration for your own home. 7023 Sunset Blvd., L.A., 323-545-0535; palisociety.com/hotels/hollywood.
