Brass, wicker or ceramic — say hello to the new anthropomorphic “it” pieces
Editing by ANUSH J. BENLIYAN
There’s a spirit of whimsy taking over interiors as designers, makers and purveyors embrace the human form with their latest homewares and furniture offerings. Take, for instance, the made-to-order hand-pinched porcelain soju cups — with precious painted visages — by Glendale-based artist Rami Kim, whose background in animation informs her work. Or Anissa Kermiche’s quirky derriere-shaped ceramic pot — part of the jewelry designer’s inaugural home line — which can function as a flower pot, vase or stationery holder. From functional art pieces to collectible objects, we’ve gathered a body of work that makes a case for the idiosyncratic trend.
